CPDLC CPDLC

CPDLC

Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) is mandated in European airspace from February 5th, 2020, and bridges the information gap between pilots and air traffic controllers. The ground-to-air data link provides a two-way text message communication channel between pilots and air traffic controllers, a crucial addition to the communication currently available in today’s busy skies.

At Fokker Services, we’re proud to offer a new upgrade program that seamlessly ticks off the mandatory boxes for the rule change while fitting into your operating and flight schedule.

The Solution

Fokker Services exclusively provides a unique CPDLC solution utilizing advanced Spectralux Dlink+ technology. This makes for a state-of-the-art, yet highly affordable unit that integrates three avionics modules:

  • CMU (Communications Management Unit)
  • VDR (VHF Digital Radio)
  • Control and Display Unit (CDU)

As of the latest software update, the Spectralux Dlink+ holds Eurocontrol ANSP “White List” status.

Available For

  • Airbus A320 Family
  • Boeing 737 & 757

The Benefits

As well as being required by law, the CPDLC integration offers multiple benefits to the fleet operator, pilot, and passengers alike. With this superior form of communication, the risk of pilots being forced to split focus will be reduced. The benefits include:

  • Improved safety in the sky by eliminating the risk of misheard communications
  • Remove the common problem of stuck mics
  • Significantly reduces pilots workload in congested airspace
  • ATC data link messages sent directly to intended aircraft only
  • Increased communication efficiency in-flight
  • ATC able to quickly provide standardized clearances simultaneously to multiple flights
  • System data capture allows ATC to clearly see operational preferences, including flight level and meteorological conditions
  • Improves aeronautical meteorological reports and forecasts, allowing ATC superior environmental awareness to communicate with aircraft flight crews
