More than a decade ago when tablet computers were emerging in cockpits, there was nowhere specific to mount them, so Fokker Services set about developing a solution for the new EFB devices. Fokker Services Manager of Product Development, Bert Leijen, says that once an operator has decided to have a tablet in the cockpit, their next step is to work out how to get it installed and operating safely. “That’s when they come to us for a solution and what they will get is how to install the mount in the aircraft and how to install the USB power suppl. [...] They also get the modification kit containing all the required materials to install it.”
